2. Nobel Prize for Physics in the year 2023.

Ferenc Krausz, a scientist of Hungarian descent, Anne L’Huillier, a physicist of French-Swedish descent, and Pierre Agostini were awarded the prize for their studies on the microscopic atom component, which revolves around the centre of each atom and is crucial to nearly everything, including chemistry, physics, human bodies, and technology.

3. The World Bank’s growth prediction for India.

The World Bank maintained its 6.3% growth prediction for India for the years 2023–2024 on Tuesday and attributed the anticipated deceleration to difficult external conditions and dwindling pent-up demand. The World Bank had also forecast 6.3% GDP growth for 2023–2024 in April.

5. Nitin Gupta’s term as chairman of CBDT has been Extended for nine-month.

The Union government has prolonged Nitin Gupta’s term as chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) till June 30, 2024. A notification was published today in this regard. On the day he was meant to retire and depart his position, Gupta was given a nine-month extension.

6. Mohamed Muizzu is a new president of Maldives.

Mohamed Muizzu, the mayor of Male and the choice of the previous ruling party, the PPM, has taken over as the head of state of the Maldives in place of President Ibu Solih, who was elected in 2018 by a landslide. In Saturday’s presidential run-off, Mr. Muizzu won after an unresolved first round in which no candidate obtained more than 50% of the vote. He received roughly 54% of the vote against Solih’s 46%. Mohamed Muizzu is a Pro china and against India.
