1. World Mental Health Day: 10 October

World Mental Health Day is celebrated every year on 10 October. It is a day dedicated to raising awareness about mental health issues. It was first celebrated in 1992 at the initiative of the World Federation for Mental Health, a global mental health organization. The theme of World Mental Health Day 2023 is ‘Mental Health is a Universal Human Right’.

2. 8th Ayurveda Day will be celebrated on 10th of next Month.

Union AYUSH Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that the 8th Ayurveda Day will be celebrated on 10th of next month. The main program will be held in Panchkula, Haryana. This year’s theme is “Ayurveda for One Health”. The Ministry intends to explore the potential of Ayurveda in promoting the well-being of not only humans but also the environment, plants, animals etc.

3. Satwik – Chirag: India’s number one pair in BWF rankings

The star Indian men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty achieved the number one spot in the Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings. They became the first pair from the country to reach this milestone. After winning the gold medal in the men’s doubles event at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, they became the first pair from the country to achieve this feat.

4. GI tag for Kalari of Basohli Pashmina, Udhampur

The famous Basohli Pashmina, known for its feather-like softness, and Kalari, the churned milk specialty of dhampur, received the coveted GI tag. GI is a mark used on products that have a specific geographical origin and have a quality or reputation due to that origin. Fine pashmina is made by hand by artisans and involves hard work.

5. Preparations to include cricket in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics

Cricket is set to be included in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The decision will be officially announced after the 141st session of the International Olympic Committee in Mumbai on 15 October 2023. The Olympics had previously hosted cricket in 1900 when England played France in a single match to decide the gold medal. In 2028, there will be a men’s and women’s T20 tournament in LA.

6. The Election Commission recently announced the holding of assembly elections in five states.

‘If the assembly seats of Mizoram, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Telangana and Madhya Pradesh are combined, the total seats will be 679. Assembly elections in Mizoram will be held on 7 November. Assembly elections in Chhattisgarh will be held in two phases on November 7 and November 17. Voting for the assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh will be held on November 17. Voting for the assembly elections in Rajasthan will be held on 23 November. Voting for the assembly elections in Telangana will be held on November 30. Counting of votes in all states will take place on December 3.

7. Khamti rice of Arunachal Pradesh gets GI tag

Arunachal Pradesh has been awarded Geographical Indication (GI) tag by the GI Registry in Chennai for Khamti rice, Yak Churpi from Tawang and Tangsa textile. Let us tell you that Khamti rice is a variety of sticky rice produced in Namsai district. It is known for its taste.

8. Israel names its ongoing fight against Hamas as Operation Iron Sword

Israel has named the ongoing fight against Hamas as Operation Iron Sword. Hamas is a Palestinian militant group that controls some areas of the Gaza Strip. The Gaza Strip is a 41 km (25 mi) long and 10 km wide area between Israel, Egypt and the Mediterranean Sea. About 2.3 million people live here, which is one of the highest population density areas in the world.

9. Bani Verma appointed as director of BHEL

Public sector company Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has appointed Bani Verma as Director (Industrial Systems and Products) of the company. Earlier, Bani was heading the company’s Electronics Division manufacturing unit in Bengaluru. BHEL is the largest power generation equipment manufacturer in the Indian central public sector.

10. Tanzanian President awarded honorary doctorate by Jawaharlal Nehru University

Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan was awarded an honorary doctorate by Jawaharlal Nehru University, She became the first woman to be honored with this honour. Samia is currently on her four-day visit to India. Tanzania is an East African country, its capital is Dodoma.
