1. India-Malaysia joint military exercise Harimau Shakti begins in Umroi

  • Joint bilateral training exercise Harimau Shakti 2023 between Indian and Malaysian armies began at Umroi Cantonment, India.
  • The Malaysian Army contingent includes soldiers from the 5th Royal Battalion.
  • The Indian contingent is being represented by the Rajput Regiment.
  • 120 soldiers from both sides will participate to enhance military capability in multi-domain and sub-conventional operations.

2. Indian Panorama 2023 announces official selection for the 54th IFFI 2023

  • Indian Panorama, a component of the International Film Festival of India, announces the selection of 25 feature and 20 non-feature films.
  • It will be organized by the National Film Development Corporation, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in Goa from 20 to 28 November 2023.
  • Attam’ (Malayalam) and ‘Andro Dreams’ (Manipuri) will be the debut feature and non-feature films.

3. India’s twin storms: Cyclone Tej intensifies in Arabian Sea, Hamoon in Bay of Bengal

  • Cyclonic storm Hamon rises in the Bay of Bengal: Impact in Odisha – West Bengal, order to evacuate people from coastal areas.
  • Storm Hamoon is moving north-northeast from the Bay of Bengal. It will go towards Bangladesh.
  • After Cyclone Tej in the Arabian Sea, a new cyclone is forming in the Bay of Bengal.
  • India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in a bulletin that a deep pressure area is forming over the Bay of Bengal. By Monday evening it will turn into a cyclone.
  • It is centered about 400 km south-southwest of Paradip in Odisha and 550 km south-southwest of Digha in West Bengal.
  • In view of the possible danger of cyclone, orders have been given to evacuate people from the coastal area.
  • This cyclonic storm has been named Hamoon.
  • This name has been given by Iran.

4. ISRO’s plan- Women will go to space by 2025

  • Recently a ferry service named ‘Cheriyapani’ has been started between India and Sri Lanka.
  • This ferry service has been started with the aim of connecting the historic sea route between India and Sri Lanka to strengthen bilateral relations, promote tourism and promote local trade.
  • This has been achieved with the launch of passenger ferry service connecting Nagapattinam (India) and Kankesanthurai (Sri Lanka) over a distance of about 110 kilometres.
  • Called ‘Varyapani’, the service rekindles maritime ties dating back to the early 1900s.

8. Unnati Hooda wins Abu Dhabi Masters Badminton 2023 women’s singles title

  • India’s young badminton player Unnati Hooda has won the Abu Dhabi Masters 2023 women’s singles badminton title.
  • She defeated Samia Imad Farooqui in the final.
  • This is the second BWF Super 100 World Tour title of 16 year old Unnati Hooda.
  • Earlier, at the age of 14, she had become the youngest Indian to win the BWF title.
