1. 24 October: World Development Information Day

  • The United Nations (UN) celebrates World Development Information Day every year on 24 October.
  • It was established in the year 1972. The purpose of this day is to focus attention on development problems and the need to strengthen international cooperation to solve them.
  • This day is celebrated along with United Nations Day, which was established in 1945.

2. Consecration program of Ram temple will be Organized on 22 January

  • PM Modi will attend the Ram Mandir Pran Pratistha program: Said- This is my good fortune
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the consecration program of Ram temple in Ayodhya.
  • On Wednesday, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust members Champat Rai, Nripendra Mishra and Udipi’s Shankaracharya Govind Giri Maharaj met PM Modi and invited him, which the PM accepted and agreed to attend the program.

3. Recommendation to change India to Bharat in NCERT books

  • Bharat may soon be written instead of India in the books of National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).
  • Actually, NCERT is making changes in its syllabus under the new education policy.
  • For this a committee of 19 members was formed.
  • This committee itself has suggested writing the name of the country as Bharat instead of India.
  • Also, it has been recommended to remove ancient history from the syllabus and include classical history and victory stories of Hindu warriors.

4. Future Investment Initiative organized in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

  • Recently, Future Investment Initiative was organized in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
  • This is the 7th edition of the Future Investment Initiative (FII).
  • The 7th ‘Future Investment Initiative’ will be organized from 24 to 26 October.
  • Union Minister Piyush Goyal will participate in the event from the Indian side. The theme of the 7th edition of the Future Investment Initiative (FII) is “The New Compass”.

5. 61st raising day of ‘Indo Tibetan Border Police’ celebrated

  • Recently the 61st foundation day of ‘Indo Tibetan Border Police’ was celebrated.
  • Indo-Tibetan Border Police was established on 24 October 1962.
  • The soldiers of this security force are deployed to guard the approximately 3,488 km India-China border from Karakoram Pass in Ladakh to Jachep La in Arunachal Pradesh.
  • Presently the Director General of Indo-Tibetan Border Police is Shri Anish Dayal Singh.

6. Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Ali Sabri informed about starting a new pilot project.

  • Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Ali Sabri informed about starting a new pilot project.
  • Under this project, it has been decided to issue ‘free visa’ for Indian tourists.
  • Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Ali Sabri said that the ‘free visa’ will remain in force till March 31, 2024 under the experimental project.
  • The Sri Lankan government has started this project to promote tourism in the country.
  • The Sri Lankan government approved free entry for tourists from China, Malaysia, Russia, Indonesia, Japan and Thailand apart from India with immediate effect.

7. The age of the moon is more than 4 billion years

  • The journal ‘Geochemical Perspective Letters’ has revealed the age of the moon in a report.
  • According to this report, the age of the Moon is 4.46 billion years.
  • In the year 1972, NASA sent the human mission ‘Apollo 17’ to the moon.
  • On December 11, 1972, astronauts Eugene Cernan and Harrison Schmidt took 110.4 kg samples of soil and rocks from the lunar surface.
  • ‘Geochemical Perspective Letters’ has studied the lunar soil brought by ‘Apollo 17’.
  • Scientists have found crystals of the mineral zircon inside lunar soil and rock fragments, which have revealed the moon’s age.
  • According to the report, a planet the size of Mars collided with the Earth, after which the Moon was formed from the fragments of the planet.

8. Ashok Gadgil and Subra Suresh awarded National Medal of Technology and Innovation by US President

  • US President Joe Biden honored two Indian American scientists with the National Medal of Technology and Innovation. Which includes Ashok Gadgil and Subra Suresh.
  • This award is given to those Americans who have made achievements in science and technology.
  • This award was established in 1959.

9. India’s Neeraj Yadav wins gold medal in men’s discus throw at Asian Para Games

  • India’s Neeraj Yadav won the gold medal in men’s discus throw in the Asian Para Games. PM Modi has congratulated him on his victory.
  • It is noteworthy that Asian Para Games are being organized in China.
  • India’s Rakesh Bhaira won the bronze medal in the men’s 1500 meters- T46 event.

10. Union Cabinet approves MoU for Semiconductor Supply Chain Partnership with Japan

  • The Union Cabinet has approved the Memorandum of Cooperation between India and Japan on Japan-India Semiconductor Supply Chain Partnership.
  • The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology had signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) with Japan in July 2023.
