2. Uttarakhand celebrated 23rd Foundation Day
Uttarakhand celebrated its 23rd Foundation Day on 9 November.
On this day in 2000, Uttarakhand was formed after separating from Uttar Pradesh. On this occasion, various programs are being organized in different parts of the state.
The main event was held at Police Lines, Dehradun, where President Draupadi Murmu reviewed the Uttarakhand Police Parade and took the salute.
3. 9 November – Legal Services Day
Legal Services Day is celebrated every year on 9 November.
The day holds historical significance as it marks the anniversary of the enactment of the Legal Services Authorities Act in 1995.
This law paved the way for provisions of legal protection and free legal services for people belonging to marginalized and weaker sections. The purpose of this day is also to spread legal awareness among everyone.
The Legal Services Authorities Act was passed on November 9, 1995 with a view to providing legal aid to the poor and marginalized people.
4. Former Karnataka Law Minister D.B.Chandre Gowda passes away
Veteran politician and former minister D B Chandre Gowda, who vacated his Lok Sabha seat for former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, allowing her to make a political comeback after the Emergency in 1978, died at the age of 87.
Gowda, who represented all four houses – Legislative Assembly, Council, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, was also part of various political parties such as – Praja Socialist Party, Karnataka Kranti Ranga, Janata Party, Janata Dal, Congress and BJP.
5. Government launches ‘Bharat Atta’ initiative for cheap wheat flour
The Central Government has launched a new wheat flour scheme called ‘Bharat Atta’ at a subsidized price of Rs 27.50 per kg.
The objective of this scheme is to provide affordable wheat flour to the poor and weaker sections of the society.
Bharat Atta is a fortified wheat flour made from a mixture of wheat, rice and pulses. It is a good source of protein, iron and other essential nutrients.
The scheme will be implemented through the Public Distribution System (PDS), ensuring easy access to affordable wheat flour for the target population.
6. 10th Kalinga Literature Festival to be held in Bhubaneswar
The 10th edition of Kalinga Literary Festival (KLF) will commence from February 9 in Bhubaneswar, Odisha on the theme ‘Legends of Ancient India and Beyond: Inspiring Live Experiences in the 21st Century’.
Over 300 eminent speakers including poets, musicians, artists and performers are set to grace the festival, which will run till February 11.
With sessions ranging from democracy to digital revolutions and cultural nationalism to climate justice, “the festival promises to be a kaleidoscope of thought-provoking dialogue”.

7. Deepak Gupta appointed as Nominee Director on SEAGP Board
Deepak Gupta, Director (Projects), GAIL India Limited, has been appointed as nominee director on the board of South-East Asia Gas Pipeline Company Limited (SEAGP).
Gupta is serving as Director (Projects) of GAIL from October 2022.
He is a Mechanical Engineer, DCE alumnus, with over three decades of rich and diverse experience in the oil and gas sector including project management, construction management and business development functions.
He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) by PMI, USA.
8. Pankaj Malhotra takes charge as Member, Finance at AAI
Pankaj Malhotra, Executive Director, OSF Central Electronics Limited (CEL), has
assumed charge as Member (Finance) in the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
Prior to this appointment, Pankaj Malhotra served as Executive Director (Finance) at Central Electronics Limited, a Government of India enterprise under the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology.
Pankaj Malhotra, Member (Finance), AAI, will be in charge of finance, accounts and overall financial operations of the organization.
9. Meg Lanning has retired from international cricket
Australian women’s team captain Meg Lanning has announced her retirement from international cricket. Meg Lanning retired from international cricket after winning seven World Cup titles during a 241-match career.
The 31-year-old also led Australia to a Commonwealth Games gold medal last year and is the country’s leading run-getter across all formats with 8352 runs in 241 games.
With two ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup wins and five ICC Women’s T20 World Cup wins, Lanning retired from cricket at the age of 31. He has scored over 8,000 runs for his country across all formats.
Lanning won his first ICC trophy in the T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka in 2012, which was immediately followed by victory in the 50-over World Cup in India the following year, 2013.
10. Novak Djokovic beats Grigor Dimitrov to win seventh Paris Masters title
Top-ranked Novak Djokovic won a record seventh title at the Paris Masters with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Grigor Dimitrov in the final.
Djokovic, who had been pushed to three sets in his last three matches, enjoyed a relaxing afternoon under the roof of the Palais Omnisports.
The 36-year-old surpassed his own record as the tournament’s oldest champion, winning his 40th Masters 1000 title and extending his winning streak to 18 matches.
